2021 Offerings, Observances, and Small Gatherings

2021 was a very tough year for me, but as I said, much was learned. Because we have pretty good vaccination rates here in Israel, it wasn’t quite as scary, but we were still cautious. We did manage go get plenty done, and are doing our best to increase our alignment and serve our community.

Cooking For the Present and Departed

Cooking for the present and the departed. In my line there is no prohibition against added salt, which is common throughout the diaspora. This doesn’t mean one is just free to do whatever though. Things have to be tasty and balanced as if you were cooking for a family reunion.

January is a reflective month for many in the diaspora because it is the time of year that a lot of the business of slavery was accelerated. Atrocities happened year round, but January was particularly harsh in many places. January is also important because of Haitian independence day and the holidays commemorating ancestors and heroes who struggled, fought, and died for this. Diaspora practitioners should honor them no matter where we’re from or which system we practice because in many ways, they are an example and proof that Vodou works.

One of the few small gatherings we were able to have. Wolf did some healing of my knees that was very helpful. My balance improved, and I don’t need Qwenthryth as much as before, just when I may get tired and my knee may buckle a bit. The only reason none of us are masked is because this four of us practically live together and are all vaccinated. That was a window of security that dissolved in 2022 because of Omicron, but it was nice while it lasted.

More did happen in 2021, but there aren’t many photos. I will probably be sent more soon.

Blessings and Ashé!
